Upload Your Documents
Applicants must upload their application documents before applying to a position.
Applicants must upload or create the required documents in OSCAR prior to submission of applications.
All documents must be either PDF or Word files.
Transcripts and Other Documents must be less than 8 MB in size.
All other documents uploaded must be less the 1 MB in size. If you have issues with your file size, please contact your law school career services office. Adobe also offers a compression tool online.
OSCAR restricts the total number of documents you can have uploaded at one time. Restrictions vary by document type and are listed at the top of your Documents tab.

The number and type of documents you submit with any given application packet will vary depending on the position requirements, however a resume is required with every application.
OSCAR allows you to upload the following application documents:
Resume (always required)
Cover letter
Transcripts
Writing samples
AO 78 form
An example of how to upload a document.
To upload a document:
Click Documents in the left navigation.
Click the Add New button.
Select your Document Type from the dropdown menu and enter a Document Label.
If you selected Writing Sample for Document Type, enter an Ordering Number. This number controls the display order of writing samples in your application packet, i.e., “1” appears first and “2” second.
If you select Other Document for Document Type, select Yes or No for Is the document an AO 78 Form?
Check the Default box if you want to set the document as your default, meaning it will automatically be selected when you create your applications.
Select to upload your document as a .pdf/.doc file or to use the online editor (for cover letters only). Note: OSCAR does not accept encrypted documents.
a. If uploading your file, click Browse and select your file.
b. If using the online editor, enter your text in the text box.Click Upload.
Your document will now appear in your list of documents.
Note: Merge codes can be used to customize the fields in your cover letter (e.g., using [judge_lname] will automatically insert the judge’s last name into your cover letter).
